Industrial Minerals for Adhesives & Sealants Industry - Functional Fillers and Performance Additives Supplier from India
Shri Balaji Mines and Minerals supplies a comprehensive range of mineral fillers, extenders and performance additives to adhesive formulators, sealant manufacturers, construction chemical producers, automotive adhesive manufacturers and industrial bonding product companies worldwide. Our mineral portfolio – including calcite (GCC), kaolin, talc, barite, bentonite, dolomite, quartz and wollastonite – serves as functional fillers, rheology modifiers, reinforcing agents and performance enhancers across the full spectrum of adhesive and sealant formulations.
Minerals play a critical and multifunctional role in adhesives and sealants – they improve viscosity and thixotropy to prevent sagging and ensure controlled application, enhance adhesion strength and substrate compatibility, improve chemical and UV resistance, reduce raw material cost through filler loading, and impart specific performance properties including barrier protection, flexibility and dimensional stability that the base polymer binder alone cannot achieve.
We export on FOB and CIF basis from Mundra and Kandla ports, serving adhesive and sealant manufacturers in Southeast Asia, Middle East, Europe, South Asia and other global markets.
Minerals We Supply to the Adhesives & Sealants Industry
Calcite - Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC)
In adhesive applications, calcite improves body and viscosity, enhances dimensional stability and reduces shrinkage on curing, acts as a cost-effective filler reducing polymer consumption without compromising bond strength, and contributes opacity and whiteness to white adhesive formulations. In sealant applications, calcite is the primary extender in silicone sealants, acrylic sealants, MS polymer sealants and polyurethane sealants - improving body, extrusion characteristics, tooling performance and surface smoothness. In acrylic sealants specifically, calcite allows high filler loading without affecting colour or opacity.
Coated calcite grades surface-treated with stearic acid are preferred for applications requiring improved dispersion and compatibility with hydrophobic polymer systems. Supplied in powder (100 to 500 mesh) and micronized grades (10 and 20 micron).
Kaolin - Hydrous and Calcined
Hydrous Kaolin is used as an extender and rheology modifier in adhesive formulations - improving viscosity and thixotropy to prevent sagging and ensure controlled application on vertical and overhead surfaces. Its platy particle morphology contributes anti-sag and anti-slump properties in paste adhesives and construction sealants. Used as a filler in tile adhesives, construction bonding compounds and general-purpose adhesive formulations where cost-effective loading and smooth application are required.
Calcined Kaolin is preferred for high-performance adhesive and sealant applications - improving heat resistance, chemical resistance and binding strength. It improves thermal stability of adhesive bonds at elevated service temperatures, enhances chemical resistance in aggressive environments, and provides excellent dispersion in high-performance formulations. Kaolin-filled adhesives show improved adhesion to metals, plastics and composite substrates globally.
Supplied in powder form across multiple grades and mesh sizes - calcined and hydrous grades both available for adhesive and sealant applications.
Talc
In adhesive applications, talc acts as a reinforcing filler improving tensile strength, tear resistance and cohesive performance of cured adhesive bonds - its platelet structure reinforces the adhesive matrix in a manner similar to a micro-composite. It also improves thixotropy and sag resistance of paste adhesives applied on vertical and overhead surfaces during construction and industrial bonding operations globally.
In sealant formulations, talc improves barrier properties of the cured sealant - reducing moisture vapour transmission, improving weather resistance and extending service life of construction and industrial sealants. Also acts as a matting agent in sealants where smooth matte surface finish is specified. Talc's low oil absorption makes it a preferred choice for high filler-loading adhesive formulations where workable paste viscosity must be maintained alongside maximum mineral content.
Supplied in powder form across multiple grades and mesh sizes including micronized grades for premium adhesive and sealant applications globally.
Barite - Barium Sulphate
In adhesive formulations, barite improves chemical and UV resistance - particularly in industrial adhesives used in chemically aggressive environments. It provides high-density filling for specialty adhesives where added weight is specified. Barite's high refractive index contributes opacity and brightness to white adhesive and sealant formulations - providing whiteness and shine alongside functional filler performance. Barite-filled adhesives show excellent vibration damping properties - particularly relevant for automotive structural adhesives used in bonding acoustic management components and underbody sealing.
In sealant formulations, barite improves waterproofing and anti-corrosion properties - preferred in marine, automotive underbody and industrial protective sealants where chemical resistance and barrier performance against moisture and aggressive chemicals are critical performance requirements.
Supplied in powder and micronized powder form for adhesive and sealant manufacturing applications globally.
Bentonite
Bentonite's high swelling capacity and strong surface charge make it highly effective at preventing pigment and filler settling in liquid adhesive formulations during storage - maintaining homogeneous product consistency throughout shelf life. It improves bonding strength and water resistance of adhesive compounds through ionic interaction with substrate surfaces. In sealant formulations, bentonite improves anti-sag and anti-slump performance - ensuring the applied sealant bead maintains its shape on vertical joints and overhead applications before curing. Its thixotropic character allows flow during application under pressure but resists gravity-induced slump immediately after.
Note - bentonite is alkaline and can interact with epoxy curing chemistry. Formulation evaluation is recommended when incorporating bentonite in two-part epoxy adhesive systems.
Supplied in 200 mesh powder form for adhesive and sealant manufacturing globally.
Dolomite
Its combined CaO and MgO chemistry provides complementary chemical properties and alkaline buffering in pH-sensitive polymer systems where calcite alone does not meet the formulation requirement. In construction adhesive formulations - tile adhesives, wall putty adhesives and flooring adhesives - dolomite is used as a mineral filler alongside calcite and kaolin, improving body, workability and dimensional stability of the applied adhesive compound. Its alkaline nature provides mild anti-corrosion protection in adhesives applied to metal substrates - a useful secondary benefit in metal bonding and structural bonding applications.
Dolomite powder is also used in sealant formulations as a secondary filler where cost optimisation alongside acceptable whiteness and chemical compatibility are the primary requirements for price-sensitive adhesive and sealant product categories.
Supplied in powder form (100 to 500 mesh) and micronized grades for adhesive and sealant manufacturers globally.
Quartz - Silica Powder
In epoxy adhesive and flooring adhesive formulations, quartz powder improves hardness, abrasion resistance and compressive strength of the cured adhesive matrix - critical for floor bonding adhesives and industrial structural adhesives subject to mechanical load and surface wear. In tile adhesives and construction grouts, quartz powder improves dimensional stability and reduces shrinkage on curing - improving joint performance and reducing grout cracking.
In sealant formulations, quartz powder improves hardness and surface durability of cured sealants - particularly in construction joint sealants and industrial sealants where the cured sealant surface is subject to physical wear or abrasion during service. Also used in waterproofing compound formulations as a functional filler providing chemical resistance and mechanical reinforcement.
Supplied in powder form across 100, 200, 325 and 500 mesh for adhesive and sealant manufacturers globally.
Wollastonite
Its acicular (needle-like) particle morphology provides a reinforcing effect in adhesive matrices - improving tensile strength, flexural strength and cohesive performance of cured adhesive bonds. In structural adhesive formulations - epoxy structural adhesives, polyurethane structural adhesives and MS polymer adhesives - wollastonite improves bond strength, reduces shrinkage on curing and improves thermal stability at elevated service temperatures. Its alkaline chemistry (pH approximately 10) provides mild corrosion inhibition on metal substrates - a beneficial secondary effect in metal bonding adhesive applications.
In sealant formulations, wollastonite improves dimensional stability and reduces shrinkage and cracking tendency - particularly important in construction expansion joint sealants subject to thermal cycling and substrate movement.
Supplied in 200 mesh and 325 mesh powder form for structural adhesive, construction sealant and industrial bonding applications globally.
