Industrial Minerals for Plastics & Polymers Industry - Functional Fillers and Reinforcing Minerals Supplier from India
Shri Balaji Mines and Minerals supplies a comprehensive range of mineral fillers and reinforcing minerals to plastics compounders, masterbatch manufacturers, PVC pipe and profile producers, automotive plastic component manufacturers, cable and wire insulation producers, packaging film manufacturers and engineering plastics processors worldwide. Our mineral portfolio – including kaolin, talc, calcite (GCC), barite, dolomite, bentonite and wollastonite – serves as functional fillers, extenders, reinforcing agents and specialty additives across the full spectrum of polymer and plastic compound formulations.
Mineral fillers are used in plastics for two primary reasons – to reduce raw material cost by replacing expensive polymer with lower-cost mineral, and to improve specific performance properties of the plastic compound that the base polymer alone cannot achieve. Our minerals serve both purposes – and in many applications improve cost efficiency and product performance simultaneously.
We export on FOB and CIF basis from Mundra and Kandla ports, serving plastics and polymer manufacturers in Southeast Asia, Middle East, Europe, South Asia and other global markets.
Minerals We Supply to the Plastics & Polymers Industry
Kaolin - Calcined and Hydrous
Calcined Kaolin is the preferred grade for technical plastic applications - improving electrical resistivity and arc resistance in PVC, PE and XLPE cable and wire insulation compounds, one of its most established global applications. It also improves dimensional stability, heat resistance and surface finish in polypropylene, nylon, polyester and engineering polymer compounds, and improves opacity, printability and anti-blocking performance in PE and PP packaging films and masterbatch formulations globally.
Hydrous Kaolin is used in general plastics compounding - PVC compounds, flexible plastics and general-purpose polymer formulations - where cost-effective filler performance, smooth surface finish and chemical inertness are the primary requirements for plastic product manufacturers.
Both calcined and hydrous kaolin supplied in powder form across multiple grades and mesh sizes - suited to plastics compounders, masterbatch producers, cable manufacturers and engineering plastic processors in Southeast Asia, Middle East and global markets.
Talc
Stiffness and dimensional stability - talc's platy particles align during processing, significantly increasing stiffness, flexural modulus and dimensional stability of PP and polyolefin compounds - critical in automotive components, appliance parts and structural plastic applications. As a nucleating agent, talc accelerates polymer crystallisation during cooling, reducing injection moulding cycle time and improving surface finish and dimensional accuracy of moulded parts.
Automotive applications - talc is the dominant mineral filler in automotive plastic compounds used in bumpers, dashboards, door panels, instrument panels and interior trim where stiffness-to-weight ratio, dimensional stability and surface quality are simultaneously required. High Aspect Ratio (HAR) talc grades are gaining strong traction in automotive lightweighting programmes globally.
Supplied in powder form including micronized grades (10 and 20 micron) for premium plastic compound and automotive plastic applications in Southeast Asia, Middle East and global markets.
Calcite - Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC)
PVC pipes, profiles and fittings - calcite is used at high loading levels in rigid PVC - improving stiffness, dimensional stability and processing performance while significantly reducing compound cost. This is one of the largest GCC volume applications globally, particularly in Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa where infrastructure growth drives massive PVC pipe demand. Plastic films - fine calcite improves opacity, brightness and printability in PE and PP packaging films. Masterbatch - calcite is the primary filler in calcium carbonate masterbatch - the world's most widely used commodity masterbatch. Biodegradable plastics - increasingly used in bio-based and compostable polymer systems as a performance and economics enabler.
Supplied in powder form (100 to 500 mesh) and micronized grades (10 and 20 micron) for plastic manufacturers worldwide.
Barite - Barium Sulphate
High-density plastics - barite increases compound density in PP and polyolefin systems for vibration damping, sound deadening and anti-vibration automotive interior components and acoustic insulation panels where high-density filler loading is the primary performance requirement. Radiation shielding - barite-filled plastic compounds and sheets are used in hospital X-ray rooms, nuclear facility shielding, medical device components and radiation protection applications where barium's high atomic weight provides effective X-ray and gamma radiation attenuation. Engineering plastics - barite improves rigidity and opacity in engineering plastic compounds - its high refractive index produces bright white or translucent compounds in PP, ABS and similar engineering polymer formulations. Also used in automotive underbody sealing and acoustic management components.
Supplied in powder and micronized powder form for specialty plastics compounding and polymer engineering applications globally.
Dolomite
In plastics, dolomite improves volume and bulk in cost-sensitive formulations, provides good whiteness and brightness as an extender in light-coloured plastic compounds, and improves stiffness and dimensional stability in PVC and polyolefin compounds as a secondary filler alongside calcite. Used in plastic flooring, rubber-plastic hybrid products and construction-related plastic components where cost-effective mineral loading is the primary economic requirement, particularly in price-sensitive developing markets. Dolomite's combined CaO and MgO chemistry provides complementary chemical and fluxing properties in thermoset and specialty plastic formulations where calcite's single-mineral chemistry alone does not meet the formulation requirement.
Supplied in powder form (100 to 500 mesh) and micronized grades (10 and 20 micron) for plastic compounders in Southeast Asia, Middle East and global markets.
Bentonite
Polymer nanocomposites - bentonite montmorillonite clay is intercalated and exfoliated within the polymer matrix creating nanocomposite materials with dramatically improved mechanical properties, barrier performance, thermal stability and reduced gas permeability compared to the unfilled polymer - typically at filler loadings of just 2 to 5% by weight. Polyurethanes reinforced with bentonite offer improved abrasion resistance, thermal stability and chemical resistance against moisture and solvents. Used as a processing aid and anti-blocking agent in plastic film applications where controlled surface slip and anti-blocking performance are required without affecting optical properties. Also used as a key component in geosynthetic clay liner systems for construction and environmental containment.
Supplied in 200 mesh powder form for specialty plastics, nanocomposite polymer and engineering polymer compound applications globally.
Wollastonite
Wollastonite's acicular (needle-like) particle shape provides a reinforcing effect in polymer matrices - improving tensile strength, flexural modulus, dimensional stability and heat deflection temperature. Its aspect ratio - length-to-diameter ratio - is the key parameter determining reinforcing effectiveness in engineering polymer systems. Used as a reinforcing filler in nylon (PA6, PA66) compounds for automotive and industrial component applications, in polypropylene compounds as a glass fiber alternative for cost-sensitive engineering uses, in phenolic resin compounds for friction materials and electrical components, and in thermoset compounds where reduced shrinkage and improved dimensional stability are simultaneously required.
Supplied in 200 mesh and 325 mesh powder form for engineering plastic, automotive plastic and industrial polymer compound manufacturers globally.
